KE Volunteer of the Year Finalist from Cancer Research UK
Tony Hickson, Chief Business Officer at Cancer Research UK graciously gave up his time to be my mentor through the PraxisAuril mentorship programme. We pre-arranged the agendas for each meeting and focused on one topic per meeting that I wanted covered.
By arranging the agenda in advance, we were both able to prepare for the meetings and this made the time together very productive. I also believe that meeting face-to-face rather than the phone was also useful.
Tony was able to help me plan my own actions within the university by suggesting ideas and giving examples based on his own experiences.
As a recipient of the mentorship scheme I believe it was time well spent because both of us took a structured and serious approach to it.
